Does deck or fence work need a permit or HOA approval?
Cosmetic repair, boards, railings, pickets, stairs, and gates like-for-like, usually doesn't. Structural deck work, or a new deck or fence, generally does, and in Lake Norman communities HOA architectural approval often comes first. We'll flag what applies to your job.
